Your words are stories, your silence is a story too.
It has been one year since I started YouInVerse, and I’m glad I did.
YouInVerse has not only been a way to reach out to more people but it has also been a personal journey to provide a haven to my words. Though I also believe that words cannot justify what and how exactly we feel or mean something, they become a powerful way to strike emotions that otherwise go unnoticed.
The past year (starting August 2020) has been a completely new journey for me where my blogs became my companion through thick and thin. The second year of YouInVerse is dedicated to collecting extraordinary stories of people. I look forward to building more meaningful engagement with people around me. Read my blog on why stories matter.
Being a development sector professional, I believe that we need more stories from people who otherwise remain hidden. Numerous people work for us every day, help us and make our lives easy, but do we really pause and notice them? I always wonder what their stories may sound like! Through my blogs, I’ll attempt to capture the ideas, stories, and experiences of people as they go through life.
As Sue Monk Kidd says, “Stories are to be told or they die, and when they die, we can’t remember who we are or why we’re here.” Perhaps this makes so much sense. We pass on our stories to the next generations so that history gets its meaning, and lessons are learned for the future. If such is the case, then stories become a sustainable way to keep life meaningful, despite the passing of time. This reminds me of Joan Didion’s words, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” Therefore, I believe that stories motivate us to imagine, remember, and recollect who we are.
I remember how in one of my blogs I wrote about how I always thought of starting a creative writing blog and how one of my professors encouraged me to write more as he believed, “I have a flair in writing”. Though he’s not here to read my blogs, I believe he must be happy knowing that I write more often now.
You do not really have to speak stories
And I do not always have to hear them,
You can simply speak from your eyes
And I’ll simply read them with mine.
This new journey is going to be more exciting and I’m ready to sync with the rhyme of my spirit. Are you ready to be in tune with YouInVerse?
